I've been watching a lot of Doctor Who lately. Good stuff! The doctor just changed to David Tennant though and I'm having a REALLY hard time adjusting. I miss Christopher Eccleston. He was so sexy. ;__; But no matter WHO the DOCTOR is, whatever. It's an awesome show. I can't get over how true to the originals it is. <3

I've also started on Mad Men; watching the third episode right now. This show just starts off slow, right? Because it's really fucking boring so far yet it's REALLY popular. This is 2011, the trend of shows is to be exciting right off the bat, like Lost. I don't have the attention span to wait around for this to get interesting. According to my DVD player I'm only 14 minutes into this episode and I've already opened my laptop and started an MSN conversation AND an LJ post. Not too impressed, AMC!

Also, the characters are horrible. The men are all assholes and the girls are all shallow and slutty*. I can't relate or care about anyone yet. blaaaaaah. PLEASE someone tells me this gets good SOON. I don't want to dislike this show. Disliking popular shows is annoying because then you have everyone going "WUUUT HOW CAN YOU NOT LIKEEEEE ITTTTTT" every single fracking day.

*Being slutty is totally cool if someone's just sleeping around (as long as they use protection EVERY TIME and don't spread their diseases everywhere). But these chicks are slutty in the sense that they sleep around with *married people*. That's a whoooooole other kettle of fish. Ugh.

Mad Men is extremely boring and I also gave up in Season one.
Try Breaking Bad...OMG so good!

YES! Everyone has been raving to me about Breaking Bad! That and Dexter are very high on my list of things to watch next. Well, those and Merlin. I already have season 1 of Merlin so I guess I'll watch that first. ;)

I lost interest in Mad Men halfway through last season. It's well done and all with great acting and writing but it is slow and they use the time period as a gimmick a lot. I found it got old after while and if you have modern social values it can be a bit difficult to watch at times. Breaking Bad goes at about the same speed story wise but they've done a much better job at it and in developing the characters.

If you want fast-paced, exciting shows check out Leverage and Shameless (US version). Both have slightly exaggerated realities, but the writing and stories are both good and it's rarely boring.

THIS. It drives me absolutely bonkers. I figure 'cause it's the first few episodes and the writers didn't know how establish themselves; That 70's Show did the same thing when it was new and it made me so angry! But they stopped doing that after awhile, thankfully, otherwise I never would have followed that show. I'm hoping Mad Men stops doing that after a few episodes, too. I mean, really. Do they think their audience is retarded? IT'S 1960. OKAY. WE GET IT. Do we really need to be reminded of that every 2 and a half minutes?! Ugh.

Anyway, sorry for the rant...I'm just so pleased to see someone else who feels the same way!

Haha I couldn't say if it gets better, because I have up after the first episode!! Nine was an amazing doctor - Ten is also good but I honestly don't think he really steps up to the plate til Rose goes away. I don't like Rose. Martha was okay, but in his season with Donna is when Tennant really shines.
Also, according to John Barrowman, David Tennant's nickname is David Ten-Inch.

I like 10 better than 9 (not that 9 isn't also fantastic ;)). But, I will agree about the companions. I'm not a huge fan of them falling in love with The Doctor all the time.

That's what I think 11 is working well so far. It started off a bit odd, but got better when things were settled with Amy and Rory
