I HATE the sound of water boiling/bubbling. Hate hate hate hate HATE IT WITH A PASSION I CANNOT EXPLAIN. It makes me unreasonably irate and I can't quite explain why.

What seemingly-*random* noises bother you in a way you cannot explain? (The keyword here is random--I'm referring to sounds you don't think anyone else would be bothered by.)

Things falling off the counter. There's a "thud" sound that just drives me crazy.
Also the sound of dry skin, forks hitting plates and WORST OF ALL, the sound of dishes when they've just been wet and are now dry and they get like this...weird "srrrrrh" sound if you rub them. Just, oh god I hate it. It triggers my tic-ing so bad.

Come to think of it, pretty much any sound out of context sends my tourette's spinning.

OMG I LOVE YOU SO HARD FOR THIS COMMENT. Things falling off counters. I LOVE IT. That was exactly the type of randomness I was referring to! XD

And I didn't know you had Tourette's! I could NOT tell at all, not in the slightest.

heh, thanks bb. Most of my tics are small enough that I can pass them off as being on purpose, but yeah. My brother has a way more obvious case of it, so no one ever noticed mine, which worked for me lol.

Chewing, any sort of mouth noise. I can't take kissing in movies. Lip smacking. Breathing. Scratching. It got to the point in the office, if I forgot my iPod I would have to drive home to get it to drown out the sounds with music. MADE ME INSANE. I would get headaches from listening, haha. I swear I have this (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Misophonia).

Omg, are you me? Kissing sounds make me FREAK OUT. I can't handle it. In movies if the kissing noises are too loud, I get so anxious and just want the scene to end!

And oooh, I just checked out that link you posted. That is so fascinating! I love reading about that kind of stuff. Our brains and nervous system just amaze me to levels I can't describe. <3

OOH, ooh, I know this one! *raises hand!*

That awful screeching noise some chairs make when you slide them across the floor. ESPECIALLY in school, those chairs and those floors are the worst. It's like piercing stabbing pain right through my head. When I hear it, I literally want to collapse and curl into a fetal position... and I do sometimes, especially if I'm at a restaurant sitting in a booth or something so collapsing's easy.

I also hate it when people call my name from a distance. :[ This stems from growing up in a household where our mom was always yelling at us for yelling (ironically...). So now when people do it I have this knee-jerk reaction to snap at them. 8D

That's really neat about the chairs! Well, okay, maybe 'neat' is not the best word, but like I was saying to [livejournal.com profile] judeaslinksta, these are the *exact* type of 'random' annoyances I love reading about so much. :)

And awwww, you have such a pretty name though! I still remember that little cartoon you made with the girl sitting in her room (I think...? I'm so sorry, I don't remember it very well!) and your name is called, and it was just so adourable. <3

Someone breathing too heavily. It's like too much information for me to handle, for some reason!

This I can totally understand!

I thought of some more. The sound of bananas being chewed. The sound of people who breathe through their mouths. People who sniffle. I'm starting to wonder if I actually do have Misophonia. I know I have mild synesthesia, so I figured my noise intolerances were just part of that.

There must be something deeeeep deep down & ancient yet biologically 'useful' about being annoyed by sniffing and chewing, since it bothers so, so, so many people. I wonder what it is.
Omg, it's all so interesting! I love wondering about and trying to analyze this kind of stuff.

Me too! Reading about synesthesia is especially fascinating, I remember reading a story about it in Seventeen (lol) waaaay back and just being like...OMG IT ALL MAKES SENSE NOW.

For me it was the other way around. It wasn't until I was a teenager that I realized not EVERYONE associates colours and shapes with sounds. I always thought everyone did, until I read about synesthesia in a book! o.O;

Nothing irritates me more than hearing someone say "Shhh". It makes me want to stab the offender in the eye with a pencil. No kidding.

I hate the sound my espresso machine makes when I have forgotten to put a coffee cup under the spigot. SHIIT!
p.s. Happy 2011! :)
