I KNOW this question is REALLY going to show how computer-retarded I really am (as if you guys didn't know already, lol) but ah...um...how should I clean my laptop keyboard? I'm talking about little bits of dirt/crumbs/dust that get underneath the keys. I bet EVERYONE knows how to do this, but I'm nervous about damaging it, as I can be really clumsy, and so I want to know YOUR own ways of cleaning your laptops...I want personal stories that work for YOU, which is why I'm not using Google to find an answer for this.

That said, I hope you realize how embarrassed I am to have to be asking this! :P

Oh, and LOOK. LOOK AT THIS. It's weird timing, because just the other day I was lamenting to Mike how they never came back after I saw them in 2008, even though they said they'd be back the following year. Actually, maybe it's not so weird, seeing as I talk and reminisce about that concert ALL THE TIME. I just happened to have done so very recently; yesterday we finally got our old Sega Genesis working again and I was fondly remembering the choir at the concert going "SEEEEE-GAAAAA!" before they started the Sonic the Hedgehog component of the concert, which was so thrilling and cute and funny and cool, if you didn't see it, I couldn't possibly relay how thrilling and cute and funny and cool it actually was.
Anyway, no more lamenting because they are BACK! Saturday, April 30th. If you even sort of like video game music at all and you skip this, you are missing out on something SO EPIC...you have no idea. You don't want to do that. Trust me. See this. EXPERIENCE this. It is frakking made of such awesome! OMG I CAN'T WAIT! Why can't it be April *right now*?!??! :D

I just flip it over and tap it so all the toast crumbs fall out, then wipe it down with a slightly damp cloth.

Once every few months I put the ShopVac nozzle right up to the keys. If you really want to go crazy, you can pop each key off carefully and get a can of pressurized air to blow the gunk out, but only do this if you're a germaphobe.

A ShopVac? Couldn't that possibly ruin it? :O Though I guess if you had one of those soft/bristolly attachments (I can't think of the word I'm searching for, lol) it could be OK.

Oh man, I should thank the gods every day that I'm not a germaphobe! My OCD is bad enough as it is, I can't imagine how much harder it would be to handle if I had that aspect of it, too. :/

I occasionally pop keys out and use a q-tip to clean under them - and of course, make sure the computer is off and unplugged! :P
You can also get microfibre cloths - like the ones for cleaning eyeglasses - but laptop size, and you put it over your keyboard when you close your laptop, to keep the screen clean.

Hey, that's a good idea about leaving the cloth on your keyboard when you close your laptop. I never thought of that! How nifty. Thanks. ^_^

Canned air works wonders. I don't know your type of lap top, but on my computers I just pop off the keys and blow it out with the air. Maybe google for a tutorial, see if there's something for your particular machine?

Yeah, I think I'm gonna go with the canned air idea. It's what most people are saying. I don't think I can remove the keys (nor do I want to), but the canned air is something I actually already have...somewhere! ;)

Thanks for the input. :)
