This just got posted at [livejournal.com profile] montreal.
How long do you think it'll take until some self-righteous haughty snob takes this person's comment--"Life without tv is not worth living ;_;"--too seriously and comments just to say how THEY watch very little TV (or not TV at all) and THEIR life is just fiiiiiine?

People who don't watch much TV are SOOOO much better and smarter, right? lololololol

Those people don't live alone and need "company" or have to drown out neighbor noise! That's what I have to say about that.

That's for sure! Haha.
Others are just plain pretentious. I've met some people who are so PROUD to tell me they don't watch TV, as if it were some kind of ~accomplishment~. If someone doesn't like TV, that's totally fine, but if they think that somehow makes them better than anyone else, then they're totally mental.

No, it's like THOSE vegans. You know the sort. By sheer power of veganism they are better than all of humanity. Like I support the cause, but I'm not going to put others down for not following my path or for "just" being vegetarian. Every bit helps. Judging, however, doesn't.

Omg, I *hate* it when people are like that! I have an ESPECIALLY sore spot for people like that, because I used to be a vegetarian who used to get a lot of eye-rolls simply for having happened to mention that I was a vegetarian. It was never info I boasted about to people; I only told people that I was vegetarian when I *had* to (like if someone asked me why I was removing all the meat from my pizza or whatever). A lot of people were extremely ignorant and rude about it.
I was always angry at the militant holier-than-thou types of vegetarians/vegans because they made all of us look bad. After awhile, I didn't know who made me angrier--the vegetarians/vegans for acting like assholes, or the people who were so ignorant that they generalized that ANYONE who's a vegetarian/vegan MUST be a self-righteous snob.

Grrrr.

Well then I would think that it'd be the self-righteous vegan snobs who think everyone is like them who'd make you angriest. :p

Mike and I are planning to go to South Korea for a bit while we're in Japan, and we're very very interested in trying dog while we are there. Some people I tell this to are like "OMG HOW CAN YOU EAT A DOG THAT'S SOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO MEAN AHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH" because eating cows and calves pigs and chickens is ~totally~ different. *rolls eyes*

I grew up without a TV and whenever I tell people that they get all defensive "well, I DIDN'T AND I'M STILL SMART"...like, buddy, I didn't say you weren't.
Also, OMG PEOPLE WHO THINK ALL VEGS ARE SMUG CAN SUCK IT. I do it for my own reasons. You want to eat meat, I'm not going to judge you.
In other news, I now have cable and MuchMoreRetro is such an amazing channel. Right now I'm watching TLC's Waterfalls.

Exactly! While I was a vegetarian I never CARED what other people ate. It was my own choice and that's all! I don't know why that's so hard for people to understand. Meh. People are weird.

I've gotten out of the habit of watching TV. I follow the Canadian Football League religiously on TV and some Canadian College Football. But other than that, I have no interest anymore. I haven't watched a TV drama series regularly since Hill Street Blues.

Well *I* don't have a TV AND I'm Vegan and I'm better than everyone else!

Actually, I have a TV, but no channels. Why? Because I LOVE TV!! OMG, sit and watch ANYTHING for HOURS! I spent my whole childhood watching tv: documentaries, MacGuyver, cooking shows, and all sorts of crap, too (heh). Now I can cook like a beast, reno most things, know a lot about animals and using paperclips, gum and duct tape... I can also do the Balki dance.

TV is not bad, and you can learn from it. Not having a TV? Also fine. Especially now that everythign is online.

And I'm only just a vegetarian. And I don't care what you eat (much).

But I'm still better than everyoen else :D And I leave my typos in to prove it!

LULZ (too much coffee today)

Exactly! You can learn a LOT of stuff from TV--and not just from documentaries either. It's not always *what* you watch on TV, but *how* you watch it. :)

I can also do the Balki dance.

Hahaha! This comment is full of WIN. 50 different levels of WIN. <333
