Well, I LOVED that Sawyer is a basically stand-up guy in the sideverse, and the fact that he's partnered with Miles was so SQUEE. Sawyer/Charlotte...well, I think that's a pairing that basically no one thought to put an effort into! But yeah, I am really starting to wonder where the answers we were promised are. At least next week's is supposed to be MAJOR INTENSE!
A stand-up guy? How so? I wanted to see him and Charlotte get in on SO badly. Not because I "ship" them or whatever the kids say these days, but because Sawyer's hot and I wanna see him get it on. Of course this is ABC so I never will see that, but it gives for some good daydream fodder. ;P
Well he's still all "you killed my father prepare to die", but he tried to apologize to Charlotte, which he probably wouldn't have done in the regular timeline, plus instead of becoming a con man he chose the legal side.
I wrote a tonnnnnnnnn as always. Mostly I thought the episode was fine but I am having a severe case of the "so whats" and really need them to get their story into gear.
I'll have to go check out your review! Also, "having a severe case of the 'so what's'" is EXACTLY how I've been feeling with this season overall. I mean, I love it still 'cuz it's LOST, but...arghghghz.
Kinda confirms what I've always felt. That with a show like this, once you start trying to wrap up and reveal the mysteries, there's not much you can do that will SATISFY fans.
J.J. Abrams himself has a whole philosophy regarding a magic trick box. Said that when he was younger, his uncle gave him a box of magic tricks, but he never opened it because he felt the mysetery was more exciting than "the answers". And that he applies this to his work. ( notice, we never *really* find out where the creature in Cloverfield came from... you can kind of piece it together with a LOT of digging online, but still not really ). It's kinda like that. It feels like they are trying to take all the little oddities they've built up over the years and tie them together quickly to end it. Which makes sense... but at the same time....
There's PLENTY they can do to satisfy fans. Like...give us answers! :P
Also, there's a HUGE difference between leaving some things unanswered for the sake of being left up to interpretation, and not being able to wrap things up because you got overambitious with your creativity and success and wrote yourself into too many holes. Of course there's no way they can answer EVERY question, nor would I want them to, but they absolutely have to answer at least a few. Blueballing your fans is not a nice thing to do, to put it mildly. Also, Carlton and Damon have been kind of inconsistent with what they want to reveal and what they don't. A few seasons ago, they said they would never reveal what the numbers meant because it would make them less creepy (or something along those lines). I was disappointed, but I understood their point and respected that. Now all of a sudden this season, we learn that the numbers belong to the candidates of the Island. WTF?
