I was sooo fucking dead at work all day Wednesday thanks to the Emerson fiasco. Was it worth it? Yes. I guess. I really easily could have just Youtubed it. Eh, whatever. LOST.

I woke up at around 4:30 this morning then fell back asleep and dreamt that I meant Jorge Garcia. He was really nice, and when I got home I remember writing "OMG YOU GUYS I MET JORGE GARCIA! (L)(L)(L)" as my MSN status. I was really upset when my alarm went off and I woke up and realized it was just a dream!
I was so disappointed.
Then I remembered that I've spent time alone with Neil Patrick Harris in REAL life, I can already die happy anyway, so WHATEVER, BRAIN. :P

The fact it was Jorge in my dream is probably because Mike's co-worker met him when she was in Rome. She asked if he would take a picture with her and he was apparently kind of "eh..." about it & asked if they could do it far from the sidewalk so no one else would see. That's cool that he took a picture with her anyway! I'd hate to meet someone from Lost and have them be an asshole or something, or just have bad timing and run into them on when they're in a bad mood. If it was anyone else I wouldn't care really, but Lost is too important to me. I've been really, really, REALLY lucky with meeting celebrities though and have met pretty much all my all-time faves, and most of them just by sheer fucking coincidence, so maybe I'll get to run into one of the Losties one day after all? How cool would that be? Or maybe someone from BSG. Omg, imagine?!

What celebrities have you met and who would you like to meet? I've met George Clooney (sooo nice!), Conan 'O Brien (so nice and PATIENT AS HELL), Seth Green (SO DAMN SWEET, OMG), Seth MacFarlane (Mike said he was kinda cold to me but if he was, I was too star-struck to notice! lol), Alex Bornstein (AWESOME and super-duper friendly), and of course NPH (we all know THAT story, lol), and a shitload of comedians who I lost track of. Also: do Aziz Ansari and Kate Micucci count? How about Sum41? (Sum41 were so funny and friendly and fun! They all signed my arm and I didn't wash it for a week, hahaha it was awesome.)
I didn't know who Kate Micucci was until after I worked with her, and if she does count then scratch "met" and replace with "chatted with her every single night before her show and drew pictures for her". Hahaha. She's such a sweet person!

I've met a few famous and semi-famous people, but unless there's a neat story to go with it, it's rather forgettable.

When I was in my early 20s, I was propositioned by David Prowse and did not go over to the dark side. I still feel that was the wrong decision. Not everyone gets the chance to sleep with Vader. It would have made a better story.

I apparently got very drunk with Gene Roddenberry's son. I didn't know who he was and wouldn't recognize him on the street.

I used to be served beer regularly by Jacob Two-Two.

And once The Boy was accidentally babysat by Amber Benson. That one's pretty cool. She's a darling, and very very patient with her fans. The Boy didn't really care who she was and flirted shamelessly. I think he was five.

While the whole celebrity thing doesn't really faze me, I'd probably die twice over if I met Michael Ironside. Omigod. Die.

I feel really lame right now because I don't know who any of these people are. (Except for Gene Roddenberry, of course!)

Is David Prowse the guy who wore the Vader suit? 'Cause the only Vader I know is James Earl Jones and I know he only did the voice, so I'm guessing the man in the suit was him? Or the guy who plays him sans helmet at the end of Return of the Jedi? Are they the same person?
I guess I can just look that up on IMDB, haha...while I'm at it I'm going to look up Amber Benson too 'cause her name is super-familiar to me!

From: [identity profile] sultrysong.livejournal.com
Dude, I'm so old.

Prowse was, indeed, the guy in the suit. And a dirty old man, natch.

Jacob Two-Two is Mordecai Richler's son, Jake, on whom the famous book is based.

Amber Benson's the doll from Buffy -- Remember Tara? "Your shirt ..."

And Mike Ironside. Oh, Mike. I'm very in love with him. Love like you cannot imagine. If you were really old like me, you'd know him as Ham Tyler from V, but you've seen him in a thousand B-movies. He was Ricter in Total Recall. Oh -- and his voice! I have to leave the computer for a minute, but I'll be back with a picture!

Jacob Two-Two was a real person? That's crazy! I read the book when I was 9 and HATED IT. As in, it actually made me frustrated! lol. I don't remember anything about the book except for how I felt about it.

I was never a fan of Buffy but I remember the name Tara. Was she the one who dated Willow?

Also, you are NOT old.

IMDB doesn't say otherwise, so I guess they're the same person.
I *did* find this freaky bit of trivia though:

He commented in an interview that he was unaware that his voice been dubbed with that of James Earl Jones' until he saw the movie Star Wars (1977) on opening night.

Damn, if that's true, that's pretty messed-up! XD

(And I looked up Amber but I'm not too familiar with her work, unfortunately!)

From: [identity profile] sultrysong.livejournal.com
She was Tara, but she hasn't acted much since then. Mostly indie stuff (that I haven't seen) and she's written a few books (that I haven't read).

A third actor played Vader sans mask. I'm a Star Wars geek, but not enough to know his name. Here's another horrible piece of trivia: James Earl Jones wasn't credited on-screen until the 20th (25th?) anniversary edition of A New Hope was issued.

Jake was a real boy, and he HATED it when people called him Jacob Two-Two.

And here's Mike (http://sobreelmundodelcine.com/wp-content/uploads/2008/06/17589551_03ad9855ce_m.jpg) again for you. He does a lot of voice acting for video games and stuff.

Phew! I should probably get some work done tonight, too.

Ironside is sooo familiar-looking to me! And it seems like a lot people get good jobs doing voice overs for video games, like Mark Hamil. It must be fun. :D

So a THIRD person played Vader in Return of the Jedi? That is insane!
Star Wars trivia is awesome. I never NOT want to know any, ya know? I wish I could have seen it in theaters back when it was first released. <3

In other news, I'm heading over to my local pub (http://finegansirishpub.com/) Saturday, probably around 9 or so, for a coupla beer. You're more than welcome to join me.

D'oh! I got this message after the fact. :( Although it wouldn't have mattered as I was in the West Island all weekend anyway. Thanks for inviting me though--I really and genuinely wanna go for beer with you! Tomorrow night (Monday) I'm going to be at Sports Station (Ste-Catherine and Du Fort), so if you're up for that let me know. Also, Saturday night I'm doing the Nuit Blanche.

Anyway, keep me posted. :)

You met NPH and George Clooney, ahh!

I used to live in NYC, so I have met a ton, haha...

Bret and Jemaine from Flight of the Conchords, David Hyde Pierce, Hank Azaria, Simon Russell Beale, Liev Schrieber, Alan Rickman, Jeff Daniels, Marcia Gay Harden, Oliver Platt, Nicolas Cage, Michael Chabon (my favorite writer everrrrr), Jeffrey Tambor, Cyndi Lauper, Brad Garrett, Alan Alda, Nathan Lane, Matthew Broderick, Ian McDiarmid, Ralph Fiennes, Cherry Jones, Alan Cumming, Joan Allen... that's not even everyone, haha.

And I came reeeeally close to meeting Michael Emerson and Carrie Preston last summer.

JESUS FUCKING CHRIST @ ALAN RICKMAN, OLIVER PLATT, AND ALAN CUMMING.
Holy hell. Any interesting stories behind those?!?!
Alan Rickman is pretty sexy in an "older man" kind of way, and Oliver Platt is just darling. I dunno what it is about him, but he's awesome!

And if anyone needs to have Alan Cumming's amazzzingness explained to them...well...:P

What's the story with ME & his wife?
If I met Michael Emerson I would probably throw up (afterward).

I met Alan Rickman, Oliver Platt, and Alan Cumming all after Broadway shows! Alan Rickman is seriously so nice. We kind of just hung out around the stage door and talked -- he told me happy birthday, because my friends had treated me to that show as a present. IT WAS AWESOME. And then he just walked down the street, he didn't even take his car.

Alan Cumming is flipping the camera off in the picture I took with him, haha. He's so funny and so Scottish.

Oliver Platt is a sweetheart! Also he has kind of a giant head. Literally. Haha.

Last summer I went to an NYCLU event where Michael and Carrie both spoke! I was hanging out in Washington Square Park before the show and they both came walking past. Actually, here is my journal entry about it (http://bomburjo.livejournal.com/203483.html)! Haha.

Eeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee
I hope you get to meet him for more than a few seconds next time! AHHH

Alan Cumming sounds awesome. His accent is the BEST THING EVER.

And soooo cool about Alan Rickman! HOLY HELL AHDJKDHJKDHJKADH

Here's my story about NPH! (http://bee-york.livejournal.com/270670.html) I replay it in my head sometimes because I'm a loser but seriously it was a wonderful, amazing, gloooooorious evening and I will never stop being grateful that it happened. XD

HOLY MOLY NPH.

That was totally like a dream because you got to talk to him more than once! FFFF HE SOUNDS SO AWESOME.

AND YES. As soon as Michael Emerson does another play, I will be there. I have to see him perform in person, he's so amazing.

Date: 2010-02-19 04:37 am (UTC)

You know what?! It really WAS like a dream! That's a terrific explanation.

If ME does another play, I'm there. I am SO there. I used to go to NYC twice a year but haven't been in over 2 years now, which is seriously causing me to go through withdrawal. It's only because I can't afford it right now, but seeing Michael Emerson live is the best reason to throw oneself into more debt.

I've met Rob Zombie, Static-X, and Cyndi Lauper all at meet-and-greets. I've talked with Ben Kweller on multiple occasions when we were teenagers. He used to be in a semi-recognized band like ten years ago called Radish. Max and I met Jerry Fuchs (a drummer) from bands like Maserati and LCD Soundsystem less than a month before he was killed in a freak elevator accident. :( Max also used to play open mics with Jason Mraz, before he hit it big. Also, Max grew up with and was friends with Josh Groban!!

I loved your entry about NPH. I was smiling from ear-to-ear for you. :D

Now that's a wonderful combination. I have this awesome image of Rob Zombie all dreaded-up trying to buy Cyndi Lauper a nice glass of wine because he fancies her so badly, while Static-X just stand in the background and laugh rhythmically.

I met Vinnie Paul at a meet'n'greet, but that's my only celeb encounter. Well, also Jay Baruchel, sort of. I was at Value Village and it was like, maybe 2002 and my friend was like "look, it's the guy from Popular Mechanics!"...and I had no idea who she was talking about, cause I didn't have a TV growing up. She went up and asked him if he was who she thought he was and he was like "...yeah, but I'm in movies now". Lawl.
I'd LOVE to meet Leonard Cohen, Kate Winslet or Meat Loaf.

I'm bad with knowing celebrities, but I did once watch Anthony Bourdain and I assume his wife cross the crosswalk in NYC; the entire group waiting at the light just stopped and watched him cross. He must have been very uncomfortable for him, lol.

Besides that, mostly wrestlers from back in the day: Bret Hart, the Pitbulls, Kane, Bam Bam Bigelo, Jimmy Snuka, Virgil, King Kong Bundy. Taking me to see Bret Hart was about the only good thing my ex-boyfriend ever did for me, lol.

I hugged Billy Corgan. He was super nice. I met Clint Eastwood, Jean-Claude Van Damme, Joan Collins, that little boy from Who's the boss when I was younger, Bruce Willis, Julia Roberts, some of the new kids LOL, some cheesier people I'll only admit to meeting whilst tipsy, Cuba Gooding Jr., Alanis Morissette, and I forget who else right now.

I dreamt I was cuddling with John Malkovich last night. That was odd. I'd really like to meet him though. I'd love to meet the entire cast of Lost. I'd like to meet John Mayer's crotch. I'd love to meet George Clooney too and my crush from fuckingforever, Harrison Ford! But only if he's dressed as Indiana Jones. LOL

What's this Emerson fiasco? What'd I miss? Is that when he was on Jimmy Kimmel?

I remember when we were at Brutopia and you told me about how you met the New Kids. Now THAT I'm ridiculously envious about. I would go sooo weak at the knees...oh man, I don't even know.

Also: "I'd like to meet John Mayer's crotch."
HAHAHAAHAHAHHA

Annnnnnd the Emerson fiasco was...just that, him being on Kimmel. I was getting so hyped up about it that it was a fiasco for me. ;) Well, that, as well as the fact that it was on 2 hours after I planned on being in bed. :(

He was by FAR the BEST thing about the Harold & Kumar movies, OMG. He made me laugh to the point of tears in those films. Both of 'em. I know a lot of people didn't like the second movie, but I loved them both and NPH was equally amazing in both of them. I couldn't possibly narrow down a favourite quote. Ahhhhhh. I've never met anyone famous. I'm lucky like that =p

I went to Cegep with a girl that won star academie, I never met her but I saw her around (we had the same singing coach).

That's it!

My mom once took the elevator with Steve Martin, she said he was really nice and spoke French really well.

My dad worked with Halle Berry and said she was the craziest bitch he had ever met. He even told me a story that ended up in a gossip mag a few months later (though highly exagerated).

I had a dream about Lady Gaga last night. We were sisters and she was kidnapped and replaced with an evil clone. lol it was pretty funny

Date: 2010-02-21 03:01 pm (UTC)
From: [identity profile] bee-york.livejournal.com
I hate hate HATE Halle Berry. You know why? Because of the hit-and-run she was involved in. SHE HIT AN OLD MAN WITH HER CAR AND KEPT DRIVING. But it's OK because she's a celebrity. I know it was an accident and anyone can panic and make a mistake, but it pisses me off so much that she got so much positive attention and unquestionable support right away JUST because she's sexy and famous. I know, I know, what else is new...but the hit-and-run thing just REALLY struck a nerve with me, because I had a really good friend who was MURDERED by a drunk hit-and-run driver. So I have very little sympathy for people who run over others in their cars and then don't stop to help because "they panicked and blacked-out". Boo-hoo-hoo. If you're going to take on the responsibility of driving a car, then get your LETHAL panic under control. Fuck.

lol sorry for the Halle Berry rant. But I'm not surprised to hear that she was "the craziest bitch he had ever met". She can DIAF for all I care.

On a completely different note, that Lady Gaga dream you had sounds like it was made of AWESOME. :D

Oh, and if authors count, I have more than one hilarious Charles de Lint story.

The most famous person I ever met was Guy Lafleur. (Go, Habs, Go!) I met him when he came out of retirement with the NY Rangers, and was temporarily staying at the hotel where I was cooking. (The hotel was near where the Rangers practice)

I also met some players from the 1980 US hockey team, when they had a reunion dinner at my parents' restaurant in Lake Placid.
From: [identity profile] bee-york.livejournal.com
That's actually really cool about the hockey players. :) I remember when my sister and I were in high school (late 90s), she was OBSESSED with some of the members of the Habs and when her and her friend finally met them outside of the Bell Center, she got so excited that she dropped all her hockey cards she was holding the second she laid eyes on her one particular favourite player. I'm trying to remember who it was...I'm thinking Saku Koivu?
My sister has had some interesting brushes with fame. My Conan 'O Brien encounter I mentioned above? It began when I took my sister and THREW HER at him. I'm very grateful that she was so cool with it--she really handled being thrown at one of her favourite TV icons quite well, lol.

Did you used to be a cook? That's so cool! I loved the working atmosphere of restaurants. I did so much of that when I was younger and I just met the most awesomest people I've ever worked with. There's such a particularly awesome dynamic about kitchens that I can't quite describe. ^_^
