All right, down to business! ;)
Feb. 4th, 2010 12:22 amI should have been in bed 2 hours ago, but I'm awfully awake for some reason. (Maybe the frappucino I had earlier has something to do with it?!) So I figured I'd come here to talk about last night's epicness in a bit more detail. More importantly, I want to know YOUR thoughts.
There is WAY too much to cover here, needless to say. So for now, just some major points that popped into my head.
In the LAX timeline
First of all, WTF sunken Island. When and why and how did that happen?!
Desmond's on flight 815 in this reality? WHAT? Why?! And where did he go?
I hope you guys were as happy to see Charlie and Boone and Claire as I was--even though I knew they were coming, it was still SO awesome to see them! I freaked out with each intro of each character. I miss real Locke. :/ (Did he lie about the walkabout or did he really go on it in this reality?)
The airport losing Christian's coffin is all kinds of fucked-up. The story can go SO many ways from here, OMG. o_O
In the still stuck on the Island timeline
Ah, Juliet. :( I never liked her, but I didn't want to see her die. At least she got some more time with Sawyer. But..."it worked"? What worked? The bomb? How did she know? And if that's what she meant, then why did she just rant about how it *didn't* work, minutes before?
And that coffee comment she gave Sawyer. Did anyone else think about how Charlotte started babbling about chocolate to Faraday just before she died? It turned out that's what she said to him the first time she met him on the Island when he told her never to return, hence starting her paradox. I was wondering if any of this was similar for Juliet in anyway. Maybe her and Sawyer end up meeting in the past but it just didn't happen yet. (No other show except for Lost could a sentence like that even make any sense, lol.)
I also thought of Libby and Desmond getting coffee together in season 2, but I honestly don't really think that has anything to do with anything, really.
Okay, enough about Juliet. The temple was all kinds of awesome, wasn't it?! And how cool was it that Sayid rose from the dead? Contrary to popular belief, that's NOT Jacob possessing him or using his body or whatever. The creators of the show said so themselves!
Another awesome thing about the Temple? THE JAPANESE DUDE! I couldn't catch ALL of what he was saying but I did understand some of it. It was funny to me when Sayid died, the Japanese guy said, "Kare ga shinda" (he's dead) and there was this long dramatic pause before John Lennon translated for everyone and said, "Your friend is dead." Because I didn't need the translation, the pause for me seemed silly in a way. XD
Yeah. John Lennon. Why is John Lennon part of The Others?
OMFG SMOKE MONSTER. They confirmed what everyone knew all along, but STILL. It was cool to see. "Sorry you had to see me like that." Whoa. But how depressing was it, that Locke's final thought was "I don't understand"? That is just AWFUL.
But why and how does the Smoke Monster/Man in Black know Locke's thoughts? o_O
And he wants to go home. Wherever home is. Ohhhhh, my god. OK.
"It's nice to see you out of your chains, Richard." We all thought he was a pirate on the Black Rock...turns out he was most likely a prisoner. Hmmmmm.
Oh, speaking of Richard--it was pretty fucked up when he threw Ben into Locke's body and Ben realized that man who manipulated him wasn't Locke after all.
I have sooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo much more to say, but this'll have to do for now, I gotta be up in less than six hours, ouch.

Date: 2010-02-04 05:41 am (UTC)Today I had a really weird theory pop into my head about the coffee thing with Juliet - in The Incident, she tells Sawyer that she wants the bomb to go off because he'll never come to the island, she'll never meet him and therefore she'll never have to lose him - therefore, the only way for it to have "worked" is if it's NOT Sawyer she's mumbling to - maybe she realizes she's in the alt timeline and she's suggesting coffee to someone else - Jack, Desmond, HER HUSBAND? Cause if the island sinks then Juliet ALSO never goes to the island!
Also, Charlie "I was supposed to die", which echos the whole "you're gonna die, Charleh!"...not to mention, every time he does die, it's via asphyxiation of some kind - hanging, drowning, choking!
dskjfaklsal also, I think we should make the Lost chats a regular thing - it makes the commercials a lot less irritatingly in the way!

Date: 2010-02-04 06:47 pm (UTC)I got teary-eyed during the exchange of words between Jack and Locke in the alt. timeline when Locke said "They didn't lose your father. They lost his body." and Jack started getting Jears in his eyes.
I have this theory. What if during the blast, they were transported to the alt. timeline so there's Jack, Kate, Sawyer, all of them plus the other versions of them co-existing (the ones who arrive at LAX)? If the island really sunk back in time, then where the hell are they? Ahh this makes no sense because why would the hatch still be in pieces? How can the island still exist if it blew up in the 1970s?
I still can't comprehend why Desmond was on that plane but I realize that in the alt. timeline, everything is different. We saw that when Hurley mentioned he was very lucky. Some things didn't change though, like Jin and Sun's troubled relationship and how he received that watch from her father after killing that man.
Smoke monster guy knew Locke's last thoughts because he is able to go into people's minds (like he did with Eko). It's obvious that all these people were meant to know each other, despite the circumstances.
Home, where is home? To better know that, we'd have to find out what or who Jacob and Smokey are!
I really do think there's a connection between Juliet and Charlotte's last moments.

Date: 2010-02-04 06:54 pm (UTC)I have a feeling that a lot of the island's inhabitants are a lot older than they look since time seems to be inconsequential on the island. It isn't linear, at least. Then, why would baby Aaron age? UGH, back to the drawing board...

Date: 2010-02-04 11:15 pm (UTC)I agree that Juliet was in another reality when she was talking about the coffee and the bomb having worked. That seems to be the general census when I searched around online for others' opinions. I'm glad I'm not the only one who thought of Charlotte!
Charlie and his irony of "I was supposed to die" is BEYOND creepy. Where the hell was Desmond when all this was happening? It was when Jack got back from saving Charlie that Desmond had disappeared, right? WEIIIIIIIIRD.
I agree that we definitely should make Lost chats a regular thing! Absolutely! :)

Date: 2010-02-04 11:16 pm (UTC)SO TRUE.
From what I've read online, that seems to have been the most popular scene of the finale, overall. It's not hard to understand why! ;)
I missed the REAL Locke soooooo much. And he seemed so happy here....;____;

Date: 2010-02-04 11:23 pm (UTC)First off, I agree that what Locke said to Jack about his father's body was soooo sweet, omg. THAT Locke is just pure and utter love. Gah. <3
Maybe the bomb never blew up in the first place. Maybe there was a time shift and that's all. Of course, that wouldn't explain why the 70s version of the hatch was blown up, but who knows with Lost!
Lucky Hurley VS Cursed Hurley was VERY interesting to see. Oh yes indeed! The things that changed versus the things that stayed the same...whoa. I can't wait for them to explain it all. If ever they do. ;)
I know a pretty crazy spoiler about Claire, and I'm climbing the walls waiting for it to happen so that I can see what comes of it, because it's honestly really bizarre and wild!
As I mentioned to

Date: 2010-02-05 01:02 pm (UTC)I don't really have any theories yet, and I tend to just watch, let things happen and be amazed. I think the biggest question I have is what "home" means.
I'm also tickled that although the series loves to play with Jesus imagery, when they decided to truly hit us over the head with it, they used the brown man. Just beautiful, so un-American. Wonderful.

It's a place where normal rules and common sense don't apply. Kinda hard to explain since I don't really understand it myself.
