Omg I can't stop posting today for some reason.
Right now I'm using Mike's laptop. I never do this, and it feels weird! This is hard to get used to, but it's useful 'cause I can watch TV at the same time. Right now I'm watching Blade Runner FOR THE FIRST TIME. Yup. I saw an ad for it while watching Lost that said it was going to be on next, so I was like yay, I can finally watch it and satisfy all the people who freak out with a big WTFFFF every time I have to tell them that I've never seen this movie. ;P

Well, I'm about an hour into this film and all I can say is that I'm bored to death. Seriously. I've been yawning and my mind's been wandering and I have to make an extremely conscious effort to pay attention, and I guess I've started to fail at that seeing as I have picked up the laptop and started typing this.
Yeah, I'm sure back in the olden days of 1982 this was really cool and all, but in 2010? Not so much. The only emotional reaction this has gotten out of me so far is to giggle at parts that I'm sure were not intended to be funny.
One cool thing though? ADAMAAAA!!! Yeah, bitches. Adama is in this, a good 40 pounds lighter, he's speaking Japanese for some reason (no he isn't) and he's making origami. I love you, Adama!

Read the book. You'll have a good laugh, 'cause I just don't know how they got *that* movie from *that* book.

It's like they saw a parrot and drew a sparrow.

Ah! I was gonna mention that in my post actually. I bet the book is amazing. Honestly, I feel like it's the type of story that would make a really good book, but not such a good movie.

Yes, but seriously, the movie has all but NOTHING in common with the book. It's like two completely separate stories. One is about animals, the other about machines.

Seriously. I've never seen a book and a movie so wholely unrelated.

That is SO weird! It's like they bought the rights to the title and nothing else. :P That's bizarre. I wonder what the reason is for all of that? Oh, I bet there's a good story behind it! I'm going to go look it up on Wikipedia. :)

Here we go, from its Wikipedia article (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Blade_runner):

As a result of Fancher's divergence from the novel, numerous re-writes before and throughout shooting the film, and Ridley Scott's never having read the entire novel on which it was based, the film differed significantly from its original inspiration. Some of the themes in the novel that were minimized or entirely removed include: fertility/sterility of the population, religion, mass media, Deckard's uncertainty that he is human, and real versus synthetic pets and emotions.

Well damn. o_O

Yep.

I highly recommend the book. It's one of my favorites. I can't sit through the movie any more though.
