This describes my life to a T right now. XD

Poor guy. I know how he feels--but I have it worse! Try that same old lady, but on top of me AND to the side of me as well, with all 3 of them working together trying to bring me to court, lol. Oh yeah, and 2 of the 3 are couples.
I'm so sick of being abused and harassed. How many more days left til I end up in the looney bin? Who knows, but I'll be taking bets!

I joke because I honestly don't know what else to do at this point.

If you haven't already, you should call or write the rental board for advice on the situation. I've also seen comments on the Montreal community mentioning rental advocacy groups that offer free advice too. Considering you were in a similar situation before and won easily, should you really be worried about them complaining? On the flipside if you want to leave before your lease ends, the landlord might be okay with cancelling your lease since everyone's bitching to him about you.

Also, is your New Year's Eve party still going ahead as planned?

You always have such thoughtful, non-judgmental, intelligent, helpful replies to just about everything I write. WTF, dude? ;)

You bring up good points about the last time. The thing is, at the moment we have 3 different apartments complaining about us instead of 1!
But despite what the landlord told me, I don't think we can get evicted that easily because a) we ALWAYS pay our rent on time; b) our super NEVER has ANY problems with us and we have a very very very VERY good relationship; c) the other tenants have to PROVE we're making this ridiculous amount of noise, which we're not. I find it doubtful that we can get evicted based on hearsay alone--then again, it *is* hearsay from 3 different apartments, which is what makes it worse. Nonetheless, I'm sure they still have to PROVE it, and considering they won't be able to (and because I'm a respectful tenant who pays ALL her rent and ALL her taxes ON TIME for the past five years without a single missed or late payment *ever*), I think I'll be OK. I know that it can be very very very difficult to get someone evicted when they actually ARE causing huge problems and aren't even paying their rent, so I really think we're more than OK until we move out. Of course anything is possible, and bad luck can strike anyone at anytime, but considering all this shit is out of my control at this point anyway, there's no point in worrying needlessly!

And yes, the NYE party is absolutely going on as planned. Considering they were banging on the floor like CRAZY because Dave and I dared to sit and talk in my living room the other night, what's the point in even trying anymore? It's going to be a super-small party anyhow; no more than 6 or 7 people, I don't think, and it's going to be low-key.

Thank you, I guess I'm just smart like that ;) I try to be as informed as possible about anything that concerns or interests me so I've picked up a lot of information along the way.

I'm looking forward to the party tonight! Low key is good and it will also be nice to see Brian again too.

Well, a lot of people are informed, and use that as an excuse to act elitist, condescending, or just plain argumentative. Kudos to you for choosing to be so much more pleasant than those folk. :)

And yes! BRIAN-time! lol (I wonder if he'll read this before the party, haha) ;)

The upstairs neighbours got Beatles RockBand (or whatever it's called) for Christmas.

We've stepped up our "baby-making" efforts.

They're really not so bad... but I will continue to have "baby-making" efforts whenever they get out of hand with Garage Band. :)

When we lived in Pierrefonds, we had a 3rd floor and the people under us would bang CONSTANTLY. In the middle of the night while we were sleeping. ( I guess the CATS made too much noise ).

I even went down there one time to deal with them, it wasn't nice. ( and we could see holes in the ceiling where they would bang with a broom ).

Anyway, we bought a house and tried to get out of our lease. Telling the landlord company that it was in LARGE part because of our harassing neighbours downstairs. As it turns out, these people had harassed the PREVIOUS tennant out of the building too! So they were taken to court to be evicted and we were called in as witnesses, as well as that previous tennant. On the stand, the guy said that he only ever used his hand to bang on the ceiling ( remember the holes? ) and that we would be "Bowling" in the middle of the night. I don't know what the judgement was, but suffice it to say, they were pretty ridiculous.

THAT BEING SAID though, I can appreciate wanting quiet and no noise from other tenant. But that is mostly chalked up to shitty building walls. You can't be expected to tip-toe around all the time. I'm sure they don't.

fun fun

I remember those days all too well, and after the court case how every haitian in the neighbourhood would glare and POINT at me. I took my doggy everywhere :) but I had two babies, and yeah, it got pretty scary

That is MESSED-UP, and that's putting it mildly.

I'm sorry to hear you guys had to go through that. :(

Holy fucking shit, that is just AWFUL. o_O I don't even know what to say in response to all that. WTF IS WRONG WITH PEOPLE?! Argh.

The bowling thing reminds me a bit of what Crazy Lady beneath us said once. She said we're running back and forth after a fax machine (why specifically a *fax machine*, I have NO idea) between 4 and 4:30 AM. I'm like lady, I'm up for work by 6 AM, wtf would I be doing up at 4? I don't have a fax machine either, so huh? Etc, etc.
There needs to be stricter laws in this province for locking up the loony people, cuz they make life for the rest of us a living hell sometimes. >:(

Given all the issues your neighbours are causing and the fact that you plan to move anyhow, you should ask your landlord if s/he'd be willing to break your lease on good terms.
Have a fun time tomorrow night! We're still going to be in Ottawa, we're back on the 3rd, I think. Which reminds me, how about a coffee date the weekend after this next one to discuss Lost spoilers!?

We wouldn't mind breaking our lease early, but unfortunately we're going to have to wait until the school year is over, at least. Ugh. :(

And YESSS to the Lost coffee date! Absolutely!
