You know what I don't get? I love Ben Linus the MOST, by far, among any of the characters of Lost. (I love him more than most characters from ANY television show, period!) But what I *don't* get is that sooo many people find him sexy. He's creepy as all hell. Wtf is sexy about him?! I don't get it. o_O And a lot of my friends like to remind me that I tend to have a...non-conventional taste in men, so I suppose that means that I, of all people, should be sympathetic to any and all attraction to the absurd and the creepy. But in this case, I just don't understand it. Look at him, he's terrifying!

And he's not just creepy as Ben. He's creepy in real life, too. Look at this picture of him with his wife at the Emmys.

First of all, his wife ROCKS. OMG TRUE BLOOD IS SUCH AN AWESOME SHOW.
Second of all, just look.

WTF IS THAT. THAT EXPRESSION. It looks like he's waiting for a chance for her to move so he can slip some arsenic into the peanut butter and feed it to the other actors who were competing for his Emmy.

And let's not forget the severely fucked-up orderly he played in Saw.

Actually, he's just so fucking creepy in Saw that I gotta post another photo.

Look at him, standing there in all his creepy, unstable glory. If you just sawed YOUR foot off, would you want THAT standing over you? lol
Also: HA! I will NEVER get over the thrill that a major "villain" in Lost and in Saw--two of my favourite things--are played by the same awesome person.

I'm almost 30 and I'm aware he's a very talented actor playing fictitious characters, but omg he's TOO talented and it's not my fault he makes my imagination get carried away. XD

In the context of the island he is almost all-powerful. He always knows what to do, and always knows how to get what he wants. He knows how to manipulate people to the point where it is stunning and beautiful.

He is not at ALL unattractive in anyway, so that helps too.

What an AWESOME description of Ben that is. Seriously. Lostpedia's entry about him should be deleted and this should be in its place.
(I'm aware this might come across as sarcastic in writing, but I assure you it's not!)

I think something else that puzzles me about people's attraction to Ben is that he is obviously either asexual or a virgin, or both. Um, not to say that virgins aren't sexy, of course! In fact, quite the opposite--there's plenty that can be hella attractive about virgins too, but Ben doesn't seem to have any concept of any kind of healthy sexual life whatsoever. I think he's kind of a man-child in a sense, do you know what I mean?

Hes certainly not asexual, he wanted to bang Juliet so badly. I would be a LITTLE surprised if he was a virgin, but I can see where you're coming from. Whether or not his sexuality is healthy isnt relevant to me, because I'd just be like, "Who is your Jacob, baby, who is your Jacob??"

Oh, and I didn't mean to imply that people aren't attracted to asexuals, either! (lol, most poorly formed replies EVER!) What I meant was that I'd find it strange and pointless to lust over someone who doesn't have any kind of sexual drive to begin with.

Then you're on the track where something sexual is the only way to be attracted to someone. That is not the case. A good example of this is President Bartlett in The West Wing series. Hes not ugly, but ADDITIONALLY hes charming, funny, smart, and is the most powerful man on Earth. Very sexy.

This can apply for women, but I think using MEN obviously is the best example for the both of us.

Yeah, I can see how my comment is kind of self-contradicting, heh. I guess I should clarify--when I say LUST over someone, I mean lust in the sense of "want to fuck". The people in question who I'm talking about--the ones who are obsessed with Ben--want to have sex with him. That's what I mean--I find it strange that they want to have sex (specifically) with someone who (in my opinion) would not want to have sex at all.

You know what sucks though? I don't understand what the song's about! >_< Usually I don't have a problem following a song and what it means, and with most pop music I can pretty much understand it word for word. But this song... it's the vocabulary. Whatever it is they're singing about, I guess I'm not familiar with the vocabulary involved. :( I keep trying to look up the lyrics online, and never find them. Bah! It's a mystery. ;)

Ah, I only saw this comment now by fluke (I don't have my regular e-mail set up for e-mail notifications from LJ). An example of non-conventional taste in men, eh? Hmmm. It's hard to think of off the top of my head for current men, but when I was a kid (between the ages of 12-15 or so), the celebrities I had crushes on were ones that made all my friends' jaws drop in surprise and confusion--Jeff Goldblum, Dana Carvey, David Space (circa 1993 when NO ONE knew who he was so I guess I shouldn't count him as a celebrity, but seeing as he is one now...), Alec Baldwin, Kelsey Grammar, that guy from The Commish (Michael Chicklis? He played The Thing in the Fantastic Four movies) and whole bunch of other men who I can't think of at the moment.

I still love Jeff Goldblum like crazy, but that's a lot more "normal" now seeing as I'm 28. Most 12-year-olds do not crush on Jeff Goldblum, apparently.
I couldn't care less about David Spade these days, nor have I in about 12 years now, but to my childhood admiration's defense, he was pretty cute when he was in his early 20s and not famous yet.
Alec Baldwin, Kelsey Grammar and Michael Chicklis are all sexy in their own ways, I can see that now as an adult, lol, though I'm not sure what attracted me to them when I was a little schoolgirl.
The one I REALLY can't explain is Dana Carvey. I mean, really. WTF? Wtffff?! I'm almost embarrassed to admit to that one. It's got to be the most randomest crush ever ever! I wonder what became of him, I have to say...
