...though probably, in reality, not THAT funny. :S

On Facebook, I noticed a group called "Drop The Plastic Bag", which is dedicated, I assume, to stopping the giving-out of plastic bags at grocery stores.
It says: 258,721 members

Then DIRECTLY underneath, it says: $0 donated

HAHAHAHA. Omg. It's so easy to go "YEAAAHHH!! I SUPPORT A CAUSE!" and blindly and insignificantly join a vague Facebook group about it. "But donate actual money? Oh no, that's OK. Not interested."
Ahhhhhhhhh, humans.

Also, I just noticed that a beauty mark I've had on and off since my late teens is BACK! Right under my nose. How does this happen? I mean, there must be some scientific way of explaining that. How does a beauty mark disappear and why? And even weirder, how does it know to reappear in the exact same place?

SCIENCE!

Could it have to do with the sun? Maybe as you lose your tan, it becomes visible again.

Okay, now ask yourself:

Where the hell would the money donated through a Facebook app go, and what the fuck would it be used for?

You ask me, that's 258,721 pretty sharp Internet-savvy members.

This. Though it makes me want to start a group called "Keep A Family Warm This Christmas". Granted the family is mine, and by "keep warm" I mean "buy lots of stuff, some of which give off heat".

This isn't limited just to Facebook. I'm using it as an example!
Most people aren't going to bother donating money to anything when they can just join a group or sign something that's FREE, and they still look like they're doing something by 'supporting' a cause.

This is why marketing people talk about "attach rate". For most things, e.g. shareware games where you play the first few levels then pay for the rest, the attach rate is somewhere in the region of 2-5%

Hahaha, all talk no action! I have no idea what's going on with your beauty mark but mine get bigger with time. If I start growing the stereotypical witch mole, I'm going to see the dermatologist to get it removed Enrique Iglesias style.

I always shop with my reusable bags but what if I forget? I'll have to stuff my groceries in my coat? Can you imagine? People walking around with celery stalks popping out of their collars?

Omg I'm totally with you on the plastic bag thing. I mean, I'm glad they're eliminating so much pollution and garbage, but at the same time, I can't possibly carry re-usable bags with me 100% of the time everywhere I go. And I make impromptu stops at grocery stores fairly often, so I always have to end up paying for plastic bags. It's not expensive, of course, but yeah.

What's FAR more annoying though is that I use these plastic bags as garbage bags. (Doesn't everyone?!) So instead I have to spend money to BUY garbage bags I would have otherwise gotten for free? Bags that will end up in a landfill anyway? So again, even when I do have my cloth bags, I'll sometimes end up not using them just so that I can score some extra plastic bags to use in my garbage cans.

So this is why while I definitely support the huge elimination of pollution cutting down on plastic bags will cause, I'm not 100% thrilled about it either. ;)
