One very big OUCH. :(
Oct. 21st, 2011 12:58 pmOur laptop is DEAD. ;___; It's sad, very sad. I had *just* backed up a majority of the important things, thankfully. But not everything! My ex (who fixes computers in his spare time) is gonna take a look at it tonight, but according to my friends who have looked at it already, nothing's going to be salvageable. I think we're gonna have to buy a new hard drive, unfortunately. I am so sad. :(
At least for now, Mike and I have my old PC (from 2004!) to tide us over until we replace our laptop. It's slow as molasses, but hey, it's better than nothing, right? The only problem is that it doesn't have wireless, so I've had to attach the modem to it directly. The modem is absolutely nowhere near the computer, so I've had to really stretccchh and move things around to make the modem reach the computer. The set-up is so obstructive that we can't leave it like that because it's impossible to move around the apartment. :P So, we plug in the internet when we want to use it and then unplug everything and move everything back when we're done. Needless to say, I'm using the net a lot less often as a result. ;) Less computer time is very good for me. I'm so pathetically addicted to the internet!
