I UNFORTUNATELY have many friends who take PETA very, very, VERY seriously. One of them just became something like... the head of PR for them. SERIOUSLY. I am a big animal rights person, I'm also vegetarian and I care about a lot of their causes. But PETA is so extreme and I LOATHE their shock tactics. I feel they don't really instigate change anyone, but cater to people who were already a part of their interests.

That page is SO ridiculous and does nothing to help fur farming. It reminds me once my friend sent me a link going, "This is so cute!" And it was about Nugget (one of their chick characters) and a game for little tiny kids. Nugget had to escape from pirates or something, but they would have these sequences in the game- where the pirate would like... break the chick's wings, chop off his friends' heads with the chick crying and everything. NOW, battery farming IS cruel- I am totally for this and also educating kids on where our foods come from, but that is NOT THE WAY. I am more about being positive. Show them an organic farm, talk about feeding hens grain or something. Scaring and scarring them with a game where their character gets beaten bloody. I can't believe anyone would support it.

I know I run a little different. I feel diets are really private and would never force mine or my beliefs on anyone , but I would NEVER EVER EVER scare someone impressionable into them. The choice means nothing then, if they were just pushed and frightened into making it!

I was a vegetarian for a few years and would do it again in a heartbeat if it weren't for the horrid allergies I developed during that time. But like you said, I totally think that diet is a personal thing, and I would never force my beliefs on anyone--in fact, when I was a vegetarian, I never told anyone I was unless I had to ("why won't you eat the burgers?!"). A lot of people were very rude about it though (and that's an understatement) and couldn't wait to force their ideas on me and how I SHOULD eat meat, so it was more of an issue the other way around!

Everyone tells me that PETA harms more animals than it saves, and I've been linked to all kinds of horrid shit that I can no longer remember so I'm basically talking out of my ass right now (well, not really) but I hate them anyway. And these little games they make are yet another reason to. They're sick!

I'm allll for saving animals (I don't even kill spiders unless I absolutely HAVE to) but PETA goes about it in really psychotic ways. :/

Dude, the very first thing in that link you posted is a photo of 2 very much alive (at least at the time the photo was taken) tanuki. :P

Though in all seriousness, I assume your comment refers to the mythical version of a tanuki, which is obviously the one they're paying hommage to in Mario 3. ;)

Same! Most people don't know I am vegetarian, even if I've known them for years. You're right though, when they do find out people can be HUGE ASSHOLES (the inverse of the militant vegan, I guess).

Hey, never mind guys that I LOVED meat when I ate it- sometimes I still think about eating it! I also don't think there's anything wrong with eating, naturally speaking. I disagree more with how animals are farmed nowadays, I'm not one of those people who tries to argue that humans are biologically wired to be vegan and have never eaten meat- wtf.

It's hard when you REALLY DO believe in the same causes, but disagree SO MUCH with how the message is delivered. A organization with PETA's reach really could make a difference.

Omg, yes, exactly this! People would say bizarrely immature stuff like that all the time and it was always unprovoked. o_O Well, at least it let me know right away that *that* was a person I would not be able to have any intelligent conversation with. (Not to mention, people THAT defensive have gotta have some huuuuuge issues, lol!)

Actually, it DOES. It totally does, because I always thought I was the only one!

I only finished it 'cause my friend insisted we do it. I was sleeping over at his place and he told me I couldn't go to bed until we finished it, lol. At one point, I was falling asleep *with the controller in my hands*. XD We finally finished it, some time close to 4 AM, IIRC.
