Wow, I can't get over what an impact Lost has had on me. I was reading through [livejournal.com profile] lostsailors's LJ where she linked us lucky readers to some very nice music from the final episode, and of course I started feeling all emotional and so I started looking up Lost stuff, discussions about the finale; stuff like that. I really miss that show a lot, and that's an understatement. There's no other TV show whose soundtrack makes me feel emotional when I listen to it, and that's nearly 8 months after it finished airing to boot!

Lost, Lost, Lost, what would I have done without you?!

Anyway, my readings of final episode discussions have lead me to realize that apparently, some people still think that the Island was purgatory and that they were dead the whole time. LMAO. Are you fucking serious? I understand why some people might not get the ending (though 8 months after the fact...I dunno man, you've had enough time to figure it out...) but thinking they were dead all along? Hahahahaha, WHAT?

Oh, and seeing as how, in about 16 weeks or so, the show will have been over for a full year (and also 'cause everyone I knew who reads this LJ and whom was catching up to Lost a little late has now seen the whole series), I am no longer putting spoiler warnings here, because that's getting ridiculous.
So if you're a lurker and you've never seen all of Lost, I'd recommend you avoid reading my LJ less you be spoiled randomly. :P

Ugh, I have a really bad cold. AGAIN.

I do love LOST and miss it so! I think it's more the excitement of talking with people and being all, "OMG WHAT WILL HAPPEN." The music is honestly some of the best ever put to a television show. Even in episodes where I liked the story least, the music still gets to be.

I think also have this huge emotional attachment because I was going through a really, really, really bad time when I latched on LOST for some survival escapism. It really saw me through and it's weird to say I am "indebted" to character like Ben, but that's really how I feel. Previously, I've only felt that way about books, so this was a new experience.

I don't get people who thought they were dead all along. LOST is rarely explicit but Christian said in no uncertain terms that the Island, the smoke, it was all real. Only the sideways wasn't. ABC issued a statement that the beach shots after were only mood shots because they felt it was too jarring to leap into the news.

Like DUH of course they were mood shots! I never thought those were part of the narrative, the show was over. It was a special way to do the credits.

How can people still think they are all dead!?

God, I still really hope I can find this Giacchino concert on DVD. I know the Blu-ray set has the introduction to the concert (who wants that!?) but I want the actual music. I can't believe it's not ANYWHERE.

You took the very words out of my mouth with this comment! Sometimes, people can't understand why a TV show/movie/fictional character/video game/whatever can mean so much to us (by 'us', I mean fans in general), but they don't understand everything we relate to these fictional universes, and/or the reasons why they mean so much to us. Escapism is one. Being able to relate to characters and realizing we're not alone in a certain situation/way of thinking (revelation! Catharsis!) is another. And there's tons more, of course.

LOST is rarely explicit but Christian said in no uncertain terms that the Island, the smoke, it was all real. Only the sideways wasn't.

That's it, Christian said plain and simple, everything happened for real! I don't know how they could have put it any more simply than that. ^^

Like DUH of course they were mood shots! I never thought those were part of the narrative, the show was over. It was a special way to do the credits.

THIS so much. It never crossed my mind once that they were anything but end credits! I got so confused when people started saying otherwise, lol.

Man, I hope this comment makes sense. I'm exhausted and feverish and doped up on cold meds right now! :P

Also! Omg you got a Faraday icon! :D :D :D :D I wanna rip him out of your icon and fuck him senseless. (If you don't mind.)

When Daniel Faraday had long hair in that episode, he looked exactly like my grade 9 French teacher at College Beaubois. It was eerie.

HAHHA! Omg. Was your teacher all awkward and twitchy, too?

Nah, he had a chill laid back hippy vibe. Brought his guitar to class once and strummed calmly as we did work in our workbooks.

Oh gods! He sounds pretty awesome, then.

Now, of course, I'm picturing Faraday acting all hippy-like and stumming a guitar in a classroom. GROOVY!
