Omg, Flashforward is getting so good, SOOOOO GOOD. The new episode tonight was AMAZING. Holy crap, this is a really neat, creative, fun, wild, interesting, twisty-tricksy show.
Haha! OK well first of all, I love love love love LOVE so many ideas and theories presented by the show. One of the main ideas being that people can do anything and change themselves in any way simply because they believe they can. It sounds like the oldest cliche in the world--"if you believe in yourself, you can become anything"--but this show makes that idea make perfect, amazing sense in a way that is completely un-corny, un-cliched, and totally wonderful to watch. The best example being in last night's episode, the window washer...his story FLOORED me. He was just this ordinary guy, and then he sees himself full of energy and happiness and helping others--and that's all it takes. That's what he does. He was, as he said, a regular, non-religious guy before the blackout. And all of the sudden, he's helping giant masses of people see things in a new light, and they're happy, and he's happy. He always had it in him, but one little glimpse of his life like that, and that's all it took, ya know? I just love that idea so much...all these people doing all kinds of things they never thought they were capable of, just because they saw themselves already doing it. A self-fulfilling prophecy, which is nothing new, but it's done in such an amazing way in the show (I find).
And the idea of HOW these people saw their futures...it's not that they time-traveled, but it's simply their consciousness being moved. (I worded that badly, but you know what I mean.) If that really is the case, then of course what they saw can't be changed, because it isn't so much a case of "oh, that's the FUTURE" but more of a sense of people's consciousness being fucked with, and for a brief period of time they were aware of it 6 months later than they should have been. Considering linear time is a man-made idea and not actual reality, this idea makes so much sense to me.
Okay, I'm having a REALLY hard time explaining that last bit, but hopefully that made some kind of sense.
This is about 2% of what I want to say about this show, but this is TL;DR enough as it is! lol sorry I couldn't help myself. XD
Oh and I completely forgot to mention--even if that IS the case, and their consciousness briefly shifted to a point in time 6 months in the future--it still doesn't explain why some stuff CAN be changed, like the guy who committed suicide by jumping off the building. His consciousness couldn't have slipped to a time that will never exist for him.
lol, it's totally ok it is a great show and the anything is possible storyline is great the window washer guy was on Ally McBeal, I remember him, he's very likable but I think there is something else going to happen with his story, something darker maybe? who knows...
hmm, they are leaning towards the explanation of if you know your future, you can change it theory, but who knows really until it all plays out which I am totally looking forward to :D
And I agree, there's totally a chance something darker might happen with that character and/or his storyline. I could totally see that happening.
This show reminds me SO much of season 1 of Heroes, back when that show was new and innovative and unstupid and gave you that wonderful sparkly "whoaaaa" feeling. XD
