I should be lesson planning, and I WAS...at one point. Next thing I know, I'm reading Lost theories and watching interviews with the awesome cast members thanks to
lostsailors and
ontd_lost.
Speaking of
ontd_lost, OMG OMG OMG OMFG WHAAAAAAT. THIS lucky girl got to meet DESMOND. I am so jealous I could throw up. Jealous but HAPPY for her! Seriously, her post made me feel all giddy, hahaha. <3
As of tomorrow? ONE MORE WEEK TILL LOST.
I AM SO EXCITED THAT I HAVE BUTTERFLIES NOW.
Seriously, I am going INSANE. I'm more excited about this than I have been for most vacations I've taken or concerts I've been to. THAT'S HOW FUCKING OBSESSED I AM.

Date: 2010-01-25 10:24 pm (UTC)It should be safe for you, but if you like, I could go back and check the comments for you. FYI though-->If you've seen the season 6 promo poster and/or know what went on at the Comic Con in San Diego this summer, then you already know this person is returning.

What theories are you looking up?

Date: 2010-01-25 11:02 pm (UTC)I've been spoiled a few times this season -- the first couple of times by mistake, and then a couple more times on purpose. I've decided I've read enough though for the most part, lol, but every once in awhile I'll get an urge--luckily I haven't given in in a good long while, for the most part.
Either way, I'm VERY curious as to which episode title you're talking about! :)
As for the theories, lostpedia.com has enough to make your head explode. Almost literally--a few weeks ago I read through them until I had a genuine headache. I couldn't believe it, lol.
Actually, one of the things that got me thinking today was your post about the riddle! You mentioned Christian's shoes and that got me thinking about the similarities between Christian and Locke/Unlocke/Flocke/whatever you wish to call him and the manner in which they arrived on the Island and were "resurrected". Obviously they arrived (or arrived back) on the Island in the exact same way, and the shoes they were to wear in the coffin was a big part of it each time. Another somewhat related thing that's been on my mind lately is the way it all begins, from the 13th webisode. Trying to figure out how and why Christian is ordering Vincent to "wake up his son" because "he has work to do" makes me feel like I'm going insane. What work does Jack have to do? Why does Christian always refer to him as "my son" and not as Jack? (Think of when he meets Locke at the Wheel...) Why and how can Christian communicate with a dog? Is Christian even Christian there? Is Vincent even a dog? What about all the theories with Smokey/MiB/Jacob and their potential powers, the way Smokey can appear as the dead if they're not buried...maybe Vincent died when they crashed and Smokey took his form? It would be a VERY clever move, I think, taking the form of a DOG. I dunno man! :/
Well, that more or less scrapes the surface of what I've been wondering about lately.

Date: 2010-01-26 01:04 am (UTC)EVERYONE ELSE READING OUR COMMENTS AND DOESN'T WANT TO KNOW THIS EPISODE TITLE LOOK THE HELL AWAY- I am too dumb to be fancy about hiding spoilery things.
Still going to be a spoiler!
Episode 7-- DR. LINUS.
DYING FOREVER. AND I DON'T EVEN KNOW WHAT IT MEANS!!!
I hope it's not literal- like in some reset world Ben is just a DOCTOR. Unless he's a vet, because I would like that. Remember when he was with Sayid and for some reason was a vet? That was awesome. But yeah, WTF. If that's Ben's episode, it's only about halfway through the season. Game-changing episode? He's usually at the end? Whyyyyyyyyyy. He can't DIE that early, and I want him to perish so I can cry for hours. Also, I wanted an Ozian reference in his title this time.
LOSTPEDIA.
O THE HOURS WE HAVE SPENT TOGETHER.
I would love for Vincent to be the monster- or rather dead this whole time, and so watching everyone from the start without being noticed.
I don't know why Christian talks about Jack like he's still his son. I know the bodies seem to retain some sort of sense-memory of the person, like how unLocke could remember how he and Ben met.
Oh speaking of shoes, a couple of things I always loved with Locke's long played out Jesus metaphor, was when he took his shoes off to be in the boat to cross the water! Even more I loved though, that was in Ben's episode and he would tap the heels to get the sand off. Click click click! It was like Dorothy "There's no place like home..." and her ruby slippers! - I love when Oz or Wonderland fits into a Ben episode. Follow the white rabbit into the jungle! (That whole episode, the one with the shoes, was great like that. Like when Ben is in the Smoke Monster and it's like when Dorothy is going to Oz in the cyclone and sees the witch- omg YEY! This is how I have interpreted the bad CG, it was a REFERENCE, ok).
I love Wizard of Oz, hi.
Oh, back to the Jesus metaphor. One of my favourite things that season was trying to sort out who was who, if Locke was being compared to Christ. Like Jack, obtusely, was Doubting Thomas. Ben was Judas- like how he grabbed that ring and was like, "29 more pieces to go!" even. I even liked thinking the scene with Widmore and Locke was some sort of parallel for the temptation of Christ in the desert story. Where the Devil tries to win him over by offering him things to make the trial easier.*
* Btw this is featured in Matthew which was Abaddon's first name. ACCIDENT. I think not.
I can't even tell you the hours I wasted looking up stuff like this.
PS Why do I always sound like a religious nutter in my comments? I've never been to church a day in my life! Wikipedia!!

Date: 2010-01-26 03:13 am (UTC)Re: INSANE RAMBLING
Date: 2010-01-26 03:41 am (UTC)It's funny you bring up Dead is Dead, because that's the episode that was starting up just as I read your comment here earlier tonight. It's such a damn good episode. It was my third time watching it. I actually don't like the "Wizard of Oz" part but other than that I think the episode is amazing on SO many levels. The first 2 times I watched it (which was before the finale had aired), I thought it was such an interesting look at the relationship between Locke and Ben. Watching it this time around, knowing that isn't the real Locke, changes everything! It makes so much sense now, with Locke and Smokey never being on the screen at the same time, like when Locke leaves Ben to be judged and only reappears after Smokey is gone.
I wonder if it's possible that there's more than one smoke monster?
Re: INSANE RAMBLING
Date: 2010-01-26 05:00 pm (UTC)Also, a lot of people have been theorizing that Smokey/Flocke cannot touch water, or something, which is why he is confined to the Island. So for the whole episode I kept watching Flocke around water, and it's true, he never touches it--he takes the canoe to cross to the other island, and at the beginning of the episode, when Ben is talking to Caesar about him, he's standing on the beach in the sand (shoes off) but never ever puts his feet in the water.
The people who have brought this theory up have also mentioned Ben's draining the underground before he can summon Smokey; supposedly another hint that Smokey doesn't go where there's water.
Interesting.
