Mmmmm coffee. I need it. I'm tired. The neighbours thought it would be a good idea to vacuum at 9:40 AM.

On a Saturday.

Yup.

I'm not making this up, guys.

So I'm not allowed to have a conversation in my living room at midnight, but it's OK for them to vacuum at 9:40 AM on a Saturday morning.

I...I have no words.

I was about to get the broom and slam the living FUCK out of the ceiling, but I had been lying in bed for awhile and didn't think I would be able to fall back asleep again even if the apartment became deathly silent, so I just said fuck it and got out of bed and started my morning routine of LJ and Facebook and MSN.
I was angry enough to pound on the ceiling anyway, but didn't do so because, well, I dunno, what would be the point?
Either way I'm really tired and kind of worried because I'm seeing stars for some reason. :/ I don't know why that is. They're starting to dissipate but I could barely read my computer screen earlier because of the stars and blurry, blurry vision. What the hell?
Maybe it means a migraine is coming. I hope not. Damn time of the month. :/

Oh hey, I finally got the season 4 Lost soundtrack. I'm going crazy looking for ONE PARTICULAR TRACK though, and unfortunately, I think it's ONLY available on the season 5 soundtrack. It's Jacob's theme, so I guess that would make sense, but I was hoping that maybe it would be on the season 4 soundtrack too since music on Lost is recycled a lot. No such luck!
This is super unfortunate because the season 5 soundtrack has not been released yet.
Dammit I don't care about 90% of the music on Lost! I just want Jacob's theme!!!

By the way, anyone else think Jacob is kinda hot? ^.^

Welllll OK so that's not the most flattering picture of him and maybe it's not so much his LOOKS that are hot but also how he...comports himself. Can we even say that in English?
For that matter, wtf kind of English teacher am I if I even need to ask that question? More and more I find myself using French here and there and not realizing it, or sometimes I just forget the English word for it. LMAO en Québec c'est des choses qui s'arrivent, mais je suis ben donc POCHE quand j'essaye d'écrire en Français. ;)

You don't have any neighbours living beneath you whom you try to place strict NO TALKING/NO WATCHING TV/NO BREATHING rules onto. :P

Also: Yay, agreed Jacob hotness!

I think lots of people think think Jacob is foine! Beyond the part where he treats Ben awfully, I think my heart kind of goes to Esau because he has such pms. That dude is me on a Monday morning//how I think the tech team at work sees me.

Esau is the Man in Black, right? I keep seeing people refer to him as Esau. Any idea on where that name came from?

In the Bible Jacob is a twin, Esau is his brother. Esau was actually born first and Jacob followed holding onto his heel.

How does this go... squints.

I think their mother had a prophecy that her children would always fight the older would serve the younger. They would have two nations, but one would always be stronger than the other, like one would rise and the other would fall. Anyhow, I think Jacob was favored by his mother, Esau favored by his father. Jacob was considered a man of simple means and a "dweller of tents" whereas Esau was a great hunter. Jacob also took Esau's birthright as the first born. He made some stew and when Esau came in from hunting and said he wanted some of it, Jacob gave it to him in exchange for his birthright. I think later too, when their father was blind and dying, Esau went out to bring back game to receive his father's final blessing, but when he was gone Jacob instead went into the tent and tricked his father into giving him the blessing by pretending to be his brother. The blessing was like, "you'll get everything and rule your siblings."

Blessings were srs bsns. Esau was pissed, but I guess after you give a blessing you can't take it back so their dad was all, "Sucks for you! I guess work hard."

From then on, having no birthright or blessing, Esau bore hatred for his brother and wanted to kill him. Forrrrrrrrrreverrrrrrrr.

I think, essentially, both brothers are kind of manipulative, but Esau is remembered for being hairy and rebellious whereas Jacob went onto found the nation of Israel and have a million children.

YEY BIBLE LESSON.

I think people just latched onto that name because it was more of a name than "Man in Black" or "Jacob's Friend." Also, the parallels are pretty obvious, down to Jacob's people living in tents and when unLocke rolls into town having hunted down this huge boar. Also all the iwanttokillyouness and the early season hints of "Bad Twin" hilarity. They've been known to pull from the Bible before, like all of Ben's story. In the Bible, Benjamin is the youngest son of Jacob. His mother dies giving birth and her final words were giving her son a name. The Others under Ben's rule too seem to suffer the fate of the Benjamites (Bible Ben's people), where they lose all their women and children and eventually just have to blend with other tribes to survive.

IIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIII spend way too much time on Wiki.

You're welcome ;)

I found this one too from the end of the episode, but it's not as good as the one above.

I just googled "Jacob theme music".

That was...that was awesome.

Seriously, thank you for that. I am pretty clueless when it comes to the bible and I seriously didn't know any of that. I'm sure I learned it as a kid, but I don't remember a thing! That's really interesting (and even though I'm agnostic/atheist, I'm feeling really ignorant right now, ahhh!), and I'm starting to regret skipping over all of the religion-based theories while I've been reading up on Lost theories.

Also, I read your amazing description WHILE listening to Jacob's theme, which just made things seem EXTRA epic. ;)

No worries! I actually haven't ever been to church a day in my life, I just waste a loooooooot of time at work reading stuff because I can't go on forums with lots of images, but Wiki walls of text makes it look like I am reading an email- hehehe.

I think what I just wrote up there- well, and the whole sort of Jesus parallel with Locke- are the biggest religion-based undercurrents in the show. Well, at least Bible-wise.

I want to see if anything pans out more with Ben's Bible connection with Jacob, since the name Linus also refers to being the son of a deity/high-up figure with Apollo. There are several Linus figures in Greek mythology (all Apollo sons), most of them end up being killed (noo) but the one son of Apollo and a mortal woman, was killed and so Apollo cursed those people have all their children snatched away!

Theeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeemes, Ben's name has 'em.

Whoa! The connections are incredible. That's really, really neat. :) Having all the children be snatched away--now I know where that comes from!

Shit, I had no idea he played Paul's character. I'm surprised I didn't notice but their characters are pretty different.
