LJ's "My Stats", since everyone's asking
Jan. 9th, 2010 10:31 amFor everyone who was asking about stats--it's a way to see who visits your journal, and when. Likewise, those people see when you visit THEIR journals. It's weird, because you see names of people peeking in on you who you did NOT expect to see there! I was very surprised at some of the names I saw--people I did NOT think would be reading my LJ, but, well, there ya go. You can turn the notification off so that your visits to other journals aren't recorded, but then you can't see who visits yours. It's a tit for that thing, ya know? When this thing was first implemented, it was set automatically that your name WILL show up, so you had to change it manually if you wanted to keep your visits private. I don't know if it's still like that, though. I think so though, because
sourdick, you mentioned not knowing what it was, but yours is set to "on" because I can see your name recorded when you visit my journal. Same for many of you on my f-list.
If you want to check your settings, go to the "journal" header and select "My stats". It's the last choice on the list.
If you turn it off, then your visits will remain private. You'll be recorded as "invisible user".
I have LOTS of "invisible users" listed under My Stats.
Your name doesn't show up if you are reading through your f-list. It only shows up if you actually go onto that person's journal.
